The creation of the site devoted to American Red Cross supposes to steepen blood donations across the country. The organization believes the site along with some social interaction will do just that.

Wikimedia Foundation gets a $2 million donation from Google

Google donates the Wikimedia Foundation an amount of $2 million. The Foundation funds Wikipedia in various languages, Wikiquote, Wikibooks and other projects.

The non-for-profit organization has 33 employees in its staff and in 2009 the foundation was donated more than $6 million.

While Google’s gift will cover Wikipedia's expenses for some time there is still problems the site faces as the number of footsoldiers willing to edit the site for free is declining.

All Internet users are warned by the FBI, Better Business Bureau and software security companies against the online fraudulent schemes arising on the heels of a disaster in Haiti. Users are recommended to stay cautious before donating money to organizations claiming to be charities that will send financial assistance to Haiti.

"Apply a critical eye," said the FBI in a statement, and do "due diligence before responding to those requests."

With the national unemployment rate now above 10 percent, Wachovia, a unit of Wells Fargo & Company, announced it will donate $1 to Toys for Tots for every Visa gift card it sells through December 31, 2009 – up to $250,000. Proceeds will provide toys to children who might otherwise not receive them this holiday season.
