The iPad 3 will have higher resolution screen

New rumors appear in the media sources that Apple is developing the next generation iPad along with the speculations on the iPhone 5. Bloomberg reported: “Apple is also testing a new version of the iPad that has a higher resolution screen, similar to the one now used in the iPhone 4, one of the people [familiar with the plans] said.”

Then Bloomberg adds: “The screen resolution on Apple’s new iPad would be about one-third higher than that of the iPad 2 and will boast a more responsive touchscreen, one of the people said.”

HP trims earnings, increases costs, while Dell reports stable growth

Hewlett-Packard Co cut its 2011 earnings forecast while its rival Dell Inc reported another profit growth.

HP CEO Leo Apotheker vowed to invest heavily on hiring and expanding its services division -- everything from computer maintenance to consulting -- to recover from "missed opportunities" under predecessor Mark Hurd.

However, it did little good to the company shares which dropped more than 7% as investors fear that costs that had been previously controlled under Hurd would balloon and erase profits.

While many experts believe current version of Windows is not very good for tablet environment Dell says its commercial customers give preference to a familiar and secure architecture of Microsoft software.

Previously the computer maker launched its tablets on Google’s Android operating platform.

Dell launches one of the lightest Android smartphones for just $100

Dell at last released its first US smartphone marking its entrance into the overcrowded market. The company on Tuesday unveiled its 3.5 inch device that runs Android OS and will cost $100 on AT&T network.

The device dubbed as the Aero will be sold for $99.99 with a 2-year contract from AT&T, or $299.99 without the contract, as announced by Round Rock, Texas-based Dell.

Dell is sued for deliberately selling thousands of computers which it knew for sure were likely to break down in a short time. Ashlee Vance at the New York Times saw the documents that reveal Dell staff were absolutely aware that the problems with capacitors from Nichicon were likely to hit at least 11.8 million OptiPlex machines shipped to customers between May 2003 and July 2005.

At the weekends Dell unveiled its new Inspiron R laptops for US customers which had been first launched several months ago in other parts of the world including Australia and India.

The new R models are designed to perform multiple functions which range from replacing desktop PCs, to serving up multimedia home entertainment, to acting as take-along workstations on visits to Starbuck's. However, functionality is not the only advantage featuring the new series, the laptops have a nice appearance with the covers coming in four different brushed metal finishes with chrome accents.

Dell prepares $100 million for the SEC to pay for its deceptive practices

To pay potential penalties for its misconduct in a settlement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission Dell has removed $100 million from its first-quarter profits. The SEC is investigating the computer maker’s accounting and financial-reporting practices and its relationship with Intel.

Thursday the company released a statement where it had reported that CEO Michael Dell is discussing a separate settlement with the SEC that would resolve allegations that he withheld information about the company's Intel relationship.

According to a report by the Hindustan Times the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh mentioned about the possibility of another American tech company to leave China. The Indian premier was cited to say Dell is about to shutter its China operations.

Mr Singh was quoted as saying:“This morning I met the chairman of Dell Corporation. He informed me that they are buying equipment and parts worth $25 billion from China. They would like to shift to safer environment with climate conducive to enterprise with security of legal system."

According to the latest reports and speculations Dell will make its Mini 5 tablet on the new version of the Android operating system which has not been released yet.

At the moment prototype models of the Snapdragon-powered Mini 5 run on build number 1.6 (Donut) of the mobile OS, but an unnamed Dell staff member claims the final product will run "something newer."

Reports also suggest that the tablet will support Flash which is good news for customers. It means that the device will be based on at least a 2.0 build (Eclair) of the Android OS.

Thursday, Dell announced the launch of its memory module, Latitude On Flash, that can boot up a computer in seconds as an option for some laptops.

Latitude On Flash is available alongside the option of an existing quick-boot system that uses an Arm processor. Dell is offering Latitude On Flash as an option for Latitude E4200, E4300 and Z laptops, which can also be equipped with the existing quick-boot system, Latitude On, that's based on an Arm-based OMAP processor from Texas Instruments.

Dell presented its "world's first fully functional" mini PC, the Optiplex 780 USFF.

 The Optiplex 780 USFF has “ultra-small form-factor" that measures just 24 x 24 x 6.5cm. It’s actually bigger than Mac Mini, Apple’s product. However Dell claims its 870 USFF has power brick inside the chassis.

 New mini PC also utilizes desktop components with the exception of the optional Wi-Fi card and the storage, which is a 2.5in form-factor part: a 250GB HDD, 160GB fully encrypted HDD or 64GB SSD.

Dell's global reach on Twitter has resulted in revenue of over $6.5mn

Dell has supposedly achieved appreciation of Twitter and social media in general. Tuesday, a representative unveiled some statistics relative to the company’s achievements, and by most standards, they're extremely impressive.

According to Dell’s announcement late in June, its presence on Twitter had generated $3 million in sales.
