ABN Amro renews its IT outsourcing contract with IBM and others

ABN Amro is renewing its partnership agreement with with IBM, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys Technologies, according to India's Economic Times. In 2005 the Dutch bank agreed a five year EUR1.8 billion combined deal with the three firms and Accenture and Patni Computer Systems in 2005.

Microsoft joins efforts with Fujitsu to compete with Google

According to the Register the giants of IT market Microsoft and Fujitsu are planning to share data centers worldwide to compete with other giants such as Google and Salesforce.com. Redmond is expected to mix its software with Fujitsu’s customer service offerings, according to Nikkei business daily (via Reuters). Fujitsu, which has around 90 data centers based in 16 countries across the globe, will begin hosting MS cloud services later this year at the company’s Tatebayashi hub in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. Brazil plans to increase its IT spending within the next quarters

A survey conducted by Double-Take® Software that polled more than 100 IT decision makers in Brazil showed that over the next nine months the country's IT spending will significantly increase. The survey, which focused on disaster recovery and virtualization, revealed that respondents plan to increase their IT and data center investments as the economy continues its recovery from economic collapse.

Google unveils its data center arrangement

Google has admitted that its data centers are pieced together using inter-modal shipping containers pre-packed with servers and cooling equipment, reported people familiar with the case from Data Center Knowledge. 

The Register had disclosed this information back in October. As it was announced Google has been using containers in its live data centers since 2005.
