Most hackers prefer winter to engage in corporate hacking

With high profile data breaches making the headlines, firms may fear they're next this summer as IT staff go on their holidays. However, a survey from security vendor Tufin Technologies showed that they needn't worry, as the hackers are taking a break themselves.

FaceTime survey: IT managers endorse secure and compliant social networking

The survey of the FaceTime Communications, the leading provider of solutions enabling the safe use of Web 2.0 and unified communications in the enterprise, sais that Social Networking is widely accepted by IT respondents, and 51 % plan to beef up security within the next 12 months. Many more IT professionals are reporting that social media is in use at their companies, up from 60 % six months ago to 85 % now.

All messages sent over corporate networks are spam, or almost all

According to a report of Symantec Corp.'s MessageLabs Intelligence unit unsolicited e mail
 accounted for 90.4% of all messages received on corporate networks during April, an increase of 5.1% from a month earlier.

In addition to using botnets spammers in recent months have been experimenting with a new way to sneak unwanted e mail past corporate filters.
