Chinese Internet population grows by 73 million users to 457 million

According to the stats provided by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) the population of the Internet users in China has grown to 457 million at the end of 2010. While the addition of 73 million users from the previous year may seem a huge figure still it is considered as a slowdown from the previous year and points to a gradual maturing of the Internet market in China.

Financial downturn helped Alibaba's Taobao to get $14.62 billion

China's largest C2C platform and a subsidiary of Alibaba Taobao.com has announced that in 2008 the company has got about RMB 99.96 billion that is $14.62 billion and 141% more than it was a year before. When asked about the reason of such popularity Lu Weixing, spokesman for Taobao, said that a world crisis has made people to think about their money and to find the cheaper ways to do shopping.
