Citi is to pay back $20 billion owed to government

As Citigroup’s Chief Executive Vikram Pandit announced Wednesday, the corporation intends to pay back $20 billion it owes the government when the bank sees more concrete signs of recovery, as the bank has suffice of capital to use to pay back the $20 billion.

Previously, Citigroup was in negotiations with the regulators about the way of repaying the funds and was considering issuing $5 billion to buy back trust preferred securities, represented by stocks and bonds, held by the government.

In many companies throughout the USA chiefs are required to use corporate plains in all cases as well as personal flights for reasons of safety of their leaders. Moreover, using company’s plain chiefs needn’t to waste their time in airports.

Executive of Freddie Mac was found dead. Murder or suicide?

David Kellerman, the acting chief financial officer of Freddie Mac, was found dead Wednesday morning at his home in Northern Virginia. A spokeswoman for the Fairfax County police announced that he took his life by hanging himself. There were no signs of foul play and neither the comment nor the note was found. Police were called to the home by Mr. Kellermann’s family at 4:48 a.m.

Who'll get the position of LSE executive: CEO of Lehman Brothers or CEO of ITG?

According to the some sources, banker Xavier Rolet who most recently led Lehman Brothers French business intends to replace Clara Furse as chief executive of the LSE (London Stock Exchange). Rolet, 49, is the first leading candidate for the job. He could be confirmed within a month after being presented to the board by a nomination committee.  Before joining Lehman, Rolet worked for Goldman Sachs in equity trading.
