Visa bans UnionPay network in revenge for its business restrictions in China

On Thursday Visa Inc announced its move to impose a ban on banks using China UnionPay Co.'s network to process international transactions with credit cards bearing the Visa and UnionPay symbols, reports the Wall Street Journal.

It is supposed that the move will mainly affect Chinese cardholders travelling overseas but not transactions inside China. Visa’s action is seen as an effort to show its dissatisfaction with limitations imposed on the network within the Chinese market.

USAA adds MasterCard IPS to its services

 MasterCard Worldwide has announced that USAA Federal Savings Bank will implement its MasterCard Integrated Processing Solutions (IPS) debit processing platform for branded network and issuer processing services in support of signature and PIN debit, and ATM driving. 

"We believe that the capabilities of MasterCard IPS will position USAA to address and adapt to the unique and changing payment needs of our members around the globe while offering the most advanced services," said David Bohne, President, USAA Federal Savings Bank.

Students squeezed by the crisis, credit cards become too dear to pay for tuition

Students are getting constrained in using their credit cards all over the United States. Starting today students at the University of Southern Maine who pay tuition with cards will be charged a 2.75% processing fee. George Mason University, Northwestern University, Wichita State and the University of Virginia are among other educational institutions who have adopted or are adopting similar practices.
