VersaPay elects W. Porter, B. Kyle and D. Peterson to its board of directors

As it became known today, VersaPay Corporation declared that the Honourable David Peterson, Senior Partner and Chairman at the law firm of Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP; Mr. Brian Kyle, Executive Vice President of Davis and Henderson and Ms. Wendy Porter, founder of Moneris Solutions, Canada's largest credit card acquiring company, will join VersaPay Corporation's Board of Directors.

Bank of America reports two more directors left the board

Two more directors left Bank of America bringing the total number of executives who have resigned from the company since April to five persons. The bank announced on Monday that the departure of Jackie Ward and Patricia Mitchell was effective June 3. The move is considered by some people to be in line with of an overhaul to bolster the board's banking and financial expertise. Besides, it is also expected to increase scrutiny by directors of Chief Executive Kenneth Lewis.

Presence of the same directors at Apple and Google is illegal

The Federal Trade Commission is investigating whether Apple and Google are violating antitrust laws, reported the New York Times.

 

Two of the Apple’s and Google’s board of directors members are the same people: Google CEO Eric Schmidt, and former Genetech CEO Arthur Levinson. Schmidt has been on Apple's board since August 2006, and Levinson has jointed him in 2000.

An official campaign launched to dismiss Kenneth Lewis from BofA’s chair

Jerry Finger, a longtime shareholder of Bank of America whose stake in the company is about 0.02% of shares outstanding, initiated a campaign against the bank’s Chief Executive Kenneth Lewis, reports Reuters. The shareholder expressed his dissatisfaction with the bank’s actions to acquire Merrill Lynch & Co. which incurred too much risk for the company.

New chairmen appointed to the boards of Swiss Re and Credit Suisse

Swiss Re and Credit Suisse announced the appointment of new chairmen. Walter Kielholz is to become a new chairman of Swiss Re and Hans-Ulrich Doerig is expected to occupy the same position at Credit Suisse.

Walter Kielholz, new chairman of Swiss Re will replace Peter Forstmoser. Forstmoster will resign from the board on May 1. Kielholz has held a position of a chairman at Credit Suisse before.

Three Merrill Lynch directors were elected this week into the Board of the Bank of America Corporation. The company announced that it selected former IRS Commissioner Charles O. Rossotti, former Miller Brewing Company executive Virgis W. Colbert, and former Ambassador to the People's Republic of China Admiral Joseph Prueher as new members of the BofA’s Board.

City names new Chairman of the Board of Directors

Citi has announced today that Lead Director and Chair of the Board's Nomination and Governance Committee, Richard D. Parsons, will succeed Sir Win Bischoff as Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective February 23. Sir Win, who has been with Citi since 2000, said he will not stand for re-election to the Board at Citi's next Annual Meeting and will retire from Citi later this year.
