iPhone 4 goes double deck with slide-out Qwerty keypad

iPhone 4 no longer lacks a slide-out Qwerty keyboard. Now any customer can add the one to its newly purchased Jesus Phone. US accessories company BoxWave is at the moment taking orders for Keyboard Buddy, an iPhone 4 case with a drop-down landscape-orientation Qwerty deck.

The keyboard is connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth which means that it is equipped with its own battery on board and is charged using a mini USB cable and good for 45 days' usage, BoxWave claims.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 comes in Q3

Sony Ericsson has announced its latest Android-based smartphone Xperia X8. The phone, cheaper than Sony Ericsson's flagship X10, uses the Android operating system, has a 3-inch screen and a 3.2 megapixel camera.

It has all the usual messaging and media features of any other smartphone: 3G HSDPA connectivity, Assisted GPS, Google's apps, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, push email and so on.

The X8 is expected to come in the third quarter. The price is unknown yet.

Apple has released its new Mac Mini which is now half smaller than the previous model. The Cupertino re-released the device as a box and it now looks like Apple TV. Besides, new Mac Mini has an HDMI port.

New Mac Mini has a built-in power brick. The device’s dimensions are 197 x 197 x 36mm.

Mini is equipped with a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of 1067MHz DDR 3 memory, 320GB Sata hard drive and Nvidia GeForce 320M graphics.

Sony launches its own iMac line of touchscreen dock PCs

Sony is launching a new touchscreen-equipped all-on-one PC line. Scheduled to debut in July this year the Vaio J series features a 21.5in display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and "multiple lamp" backlighting. It's driven by a 2.26GHz Intel Core i3-350M processor and an Nvidia GeForce 310M 512MB graphics chip.

Other specifications include 4GB of DDR 3 memory, a 500GB 7200rpm hard drive, a multi-format DVD writer, 802.11n wireless networking, Bluetooth and a webcam.

19 computer and phone makers are accused by Wi-Lan Inc, the Canadian technology licensing company, of infringing a patent by selling laptops and cellular handsets enabled with Bluetooth technology.

Blue-chip companies like Apple Inc, Dell Inc, Hewlett-Packard Co and Intel Corp. are among the defendants sued by the Canadian outfit.

 First TransferJet based chips to replace the Bluetooth function were announced by Sony. The chips can provide Bluetooth-style short range communications at speeds of up to 560Mb/s.

One chip is small enough to fit inside an SD memory card. The other is designed to sit on a PCI or MiniPCI add-in card.

 Starting December 1 one of British regions launches the Christmas campaign targeted at drivers who tend to drink when on the wheels. Britons who have Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones will be receiving anti-drink drive messages and videos from pubs, clubs and police patrol cars across Devon.

The mobile phone advice is part of a new joint initiative by Devon and Cornwall Police, Devon County, Plymouth City and Torbay Councils, and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue.
