AOL required to pay $100 million to bloggers in a class action lawsuit

A lawsuit was launched against AOL and its subsidiary The Huffington Post that seeks $100 million in damages.

The class action suit launched with the Manhattan federal court claims that The Huffington Post unfairly pocketed more than $100 million from its unpaid bloggers when AOL Inc bought the influential news website in February.

Two opposition bloggers sentenced in Azerbaijan

A court in Azerbaijan sentenced two opposition bloggers to jail terms Wednesday in a case that has stirred international concern over freedom of expression in the oil-producing Caspian Sea state.

Adnan Hajizade, 26, was sentenced to two years in prison and Emin Milli, 30, to two years and six months over an incident in a cafe in Baku, a member of their defense team told Reuters.

Bloggers in Singapore will have to disclose payments for products reviews

 Media Development Authority of Singapore plans to consider the adoption of stricter rules for the bloggers to disclose payments and incentives they get from the companies and businesses when reviewing their products.

Earlier the US Federal Communication Commission released a set of rules that regulate how bloggers should disclose payments and gifts when they make paid review of some products. The rules are applied only when a payment is directly tied to a product review, and does not include general advertising.

Google is sued by a blogger for disclosing identity under court’s order

Rosemary Port, a blogger who attacked Liskula Cohen, a Vogue model, on the "Skanks of New York" blog last year, posting suggestive pictures of Cohen and adding comments that called Cohen a "skank," a "ho" and other unsavory terms, is suing Google for privacy infringement. Port is seeking damages of $15 million from the Internet search company.

New data provided in the “Consumer Internet Barometer” from TNS and The Conference Board show that 41.6% of Internet surfers used Twitter to communicate with their friends. Besides, 29.1% used it to update their status, 25.8% to find news and stay updated, 21.7% for work purposes and 9.4% for research.

Having read the heading some people may say that they know what blog is however the word splog is quite unfamiliar to them. Others could hear this term though have no idea what it means let alone the way how to make money with images of American presidents.  

To understand what splog means let’s turn to 2003 when this word was used on the Internet for the first time. Later this word is mentioned in relation with some businessman Mark Cuban.
