Bling Nation, a US mobile payments service, announced about the “pause” of its activity to fix its business model that has failed to be attractive for merchants.

While it became very popular at the dawn of its business Bling Nation lost its way when it introduced FanConnect, a social media-heavy loyalty programme that was compulsory for Bling's bank and merchant partners.

Bling Nation is launching its FanConnect social rewards program in Chicago, as part of a broader national rollout. Providing rewards to consumers through FanConnect businesses can generate awareness, in-store traffic and built their loyalty. Thus, every time a customer earns a reward, they're able to share it with their hundreds of friends on Facebook, who can grab that deal and use it when they visit the business.

Bling Nation is delighted to announce the availability of its mobile phone payment service throughout Stanford University.

That is a company’s move to expand its Palo Alto deployment.

As it has become known, Bling Nation has signed pretty major deal with PayPal. So, from now Bling Nation’s payment systems will let consumers use their payment chips to withdraw funds from a PayPal account.

This is a big win for startup’s system, which originally had ambitions of solely focusing on hyperlocal banks in small communities.

Lamar, Colorado-based Valley National Bank has subscribed for Bling Nation's mobile payments offering to allow its consumers to pay for purchases at the point-of-sale using tap-and-pay technology.

Customers who have a checking account with Valley National Bank may sign up for a BlingTag™, a quarter-sized microchip sticker that adheres to the back of their mobile phone to enable debit transactions directly from their account. Thus, each time when the purchase is made via a BlingTag a consumer receives a text message with transaction confirmation and balance information.

Bling Nation's sticker-based mobile contactless payments service has been implemented by Community State Bank in Lamar, Colorado. The bank has become the latest among those offering the service to its customers.

Bling Nation in its first east coast community deployment announced that Saratoga Springs, NY-based The Adirondack Trust Company, is actively offering mobile payments to its customers and community.
