On its company blog PayPal announced that is improving user experience with an online payment option Bill Me Later. Now it is easier to see which listings offer Bill Me Later on eBay. Besides, shoppers will be provided with associated offers on the View Item page. This way consumers will be able to use Bill Me Later to buy the items they want now and pay for them later.

Bill Me Later will also appear on the Review Your Purchase page along with a direct link to Bill Me Later’s easy application and checkout process.

According to Rosetta, an interactive marketing agency that inquired the top 100 retailers for the third year in a row, only 11 said they offered Google Checkout payment option vs. 26 for competitor Bill Me Later and 25 for PayPal. Rosetta's inquiry didn’t ask for reasons. But because all three online payment firms charge fees for their services, the withdrawal could be a factor. Google considers that many leading online retailers use Google Checkout.

The move is ascribed to the two main factors: competition and tough economy environment. Cliff Hopkins, senior director of PayPal’s North America marketing team, cited some figures from the recent report from Javelin Strategy & Research and pointed to the advantages of using alternative payment option PayPal and Bill Me Later included. He underlined that merchants accepting only credit cards are losing on online sales as long as more consumers are giving their preference to other flexible payment methods.
