Mexican customers mostly use debit cards, says Visa

On Tuesday Visa Inc reported that according to the latest researches nearly 62% of Mexicans used a debit card last year. Visa polled 1,009 adults from different social classes between 18 and 64 years of age in the cities of Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City.

"Debit cards are becoming Mexicans' preferred form of payment due to the benefits they offer in terms of security, control and convenience," Eduardo Coello, chief executive of Visa Mexico, said in a press release.

The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Limited has announced the completion of acquiring 88.89 per cent of PT Bank Ekonomi Raharja Tbk (Bank Ekonomi) for US$607.5 million through its wholly-owned subsidiary of HSBC Asia Pacific Holdings (UK) Limited.. The purchasing decision was made following the advice of the Global Banking and Markets division of the HSBC Group.
