It appears that the ban on using iPad in South Korea will soon be cancelled in view of the latest events when the state official used the device at the public conference. On Tuesday this week the Korea Communications Commission announced it is going to end the blockage of importing Apple Inc.'s iPad for personal use, ending a ban that early adopters in this tech-savvy country dubbed unfair.

US government prohibits drivers of large commercial trucks to text on a way

The US government on Tuesday banned hand-held "texting" by drivers of large commercial trucks and buses to avoid the danger of distracted driving.

 

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said in a statement the prohibition takes effect immediately. It follows a similar ban in December for drivers of federal government vehicles.

Saturday, the China’s General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) and copyright watchdog issued a prohibition, banning foreign investment in domestic online gaming operations through joint ventures, wholly owned enterprises and cooperatives.

 That was done in an effort to enhance control over remunerative virtual worlds of national online games industry.

 The new prohibition also bans foreign companies to indirectly influence Chinese gaming firms through agreements or technology support.

Darling claims to ban automatic bonuses for UK bankers

 Great Britain will ban automatic bonuses for bankers in a new law expected to be enacted within weeks, Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling told Labour Party members Monday. 


In a speech at the party's annual conference in Brighton, Darling, who heads the U.K. Treasury, said the legislation will require bonuses to be meted out over several years. The law will also ensure that bonuses can be clawed back if bank performance deteriorates.

Securities and Exchange Commission is suing Robert Allen Stanford and three of his companies Antigua- and Barbuda-based Stanford International Bank and its Houston-based subsidiaries, Stanford Group Co. and Stanford Capital Management for an $8 billion fraud.

“We are alleging a fraud of shocking magnitude that has spread its tentacles throughout the world,” said Rose Romero, regional director of the SEC's Fort Worth, Texas, office, in a press release.
