PayPal started a new customer service and operations center in Chandler, Arizona. The new facility, located at 3000 West One Payment Way, will employ up to 2,000 new employees - which will help to support PayPal customers around the world.

Intel starts a $5 billion advanced microchip making factory

A $5 billion high-end microchip factory will be built by Intel Corp in Arizona by the year of 2013 as the world’s largest chip maker wants to boost up the US manufacturing capacity.

Intel said in a statement that the construction should start this year and when completed the plant will make next-generation 14-nanometer line-width transistors and microchip wafers of 300 millimeters.

Earlier last year Intel said that it plans to spend $6 billion to $8 billion on high-tech manufacturing facilities in Arizona and Oregon, creating as many as 8,000 construction jobs.

Arizona's expected to gain up to $708 million by 2012 by taxing more

Arizona could gain as much as $708 million in 2012 by taxing more Internet, Home Shopping Network, catalog and other out-of-state sales, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. 

 

The catch: It would have to greatly simplify its sales-tax structure, with changes approved by state and federal lawmakers.

Western Union was supported by Supreme Court against Arizona State

This week Western Union was upheld by the Arizona Supreme Court in the lawsuit against the state. The court ruled that Arizona exceeded its authority in attempting to seize Western Union wire transfers sent from other states to locations in Mexico.

In September 2006, the Arizona Attorney General obtained a warrant seeking to seize all Western Union money transfers above $500 sent from anyone in 29 U.S. states for which payment was requested at any of 26 agent locations in Sonora, Mexico.
