50% of Americans again approve Barack Obama’s job

According to a recent poll conducted by Reuters/Ipsos the US President Barack Obama is again getting approval by American people. Still Americans want Obama to focus on reducing debt and spending.

The survey shows that Obama’s job approval increased to 50% up from 45% in December. It is the first time Obama has achieved 50 percent approval in this poll since last June.

Meantime, many Americans disapprove Obama’s job performance with 47% of respondents expressing their negative attitude which is up from 46% last month.

64% of US consumers discard online shopping

A new poll by the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) revealed that 64% of US consumers have declined online purchases on security concerns.

Providing an explanation to their behavior 60% of Americans said they were not sure if the site was secure, 51.4% were worried about providing information requested, and 48.4% felt a website requested more information than was necessary for the transaction.

Security risks do not stop Americans who practice mobile payments

Security concerns do not prevent Americans from using mobile phones to make payments. A new survey from Sterling Commerce and Demandware reveals that 15% of US consumers have used their cellphones to make purchases. The survey polled 36000 US consumers. It found that 96% own a mobile device and just under half a smartphone.

Over 60% of the polled admit that being able to use their mobile phone while shopping to verify product availability at a particular store location is important to very important.

 AlixPartners LLP, the global business-advisory firm has revealed the results of its latest survey initiated to find the opinion of Americans about their financial well-being. According to the poll results Americans don’t expect their quality of life, including their spending levels, to return to pre-recession levels until mid-2013.

Do mobile phones and Internet isolate Americans from the society?

 Pew Internet & American Life Project conducted a survey that showed the opinion that Americans became more isolated because of the wide-spread and highly-used cellphones and the Internet is not true. It is as wrong as the statement that friends become more distant and all conversations with them are not personal and people around them are filtered out.

Does Internet wreck family communication?

The Annenberg Center for the Digital Future at the University of Southern California released a study that showed 28% of Americans that were interviewed last year said they have been spending less time with members of their households. This is nearly triple the 11% who said that in 2006. Interestingly the survey found that the decrease in family communication coincides with the rise in using the Internet.

The White House has announced the launch of Open for Questions, a website aimed at collecting questions from US citizens to be answered by the president.

Users of the website can post their questions which afterwards are to be rated by others just like in Digg and Reddit social bookmarking sites. Top rated questions will be answered by Barack Obama.

Most Americans don't understand basic economics

The Center for Economic and Entrepreneurial Literacy (CEEL) released a new survey that estimates the need for increased education on personal finance and economic issues. The national survey conducted last week showed that a great number of Americans were not able to answer some basic questions related to borrowing, interest rates, and terminology. There were even those who weren't able to solve basic math.
