Adobe denies Microsoft’s acquisition, it views itself as an “independent company

CEO of Adobe Systems made a statement to a German newspaper that the company plans to stay independent with no targets to merge with any firm as the speculations in media are reporting the software maker could become an acquisition target for Microsoft.

"Adobe's growth prospects are so great that our focus is on seizing these opportunities as an independent company," Adobe Chief Executive Shantanu Narayen was quoted as saying by daily Financial Times Deutschland on Monday.

Adobe patched 20 security vulnerabilities in its Shockwave Player

As it became known Tuesday, Adobe Systems patched 20 security vulnerabilities in its Shockwave Player, used to display content created by Adobe's Director program, offering advanced tools for creating interactive content.

These vulnerabilities are in versions of Shockwave Player up to version 11.5.7.609, on both Apple's Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. The patched version is 11.5.8.612, according to an Adobe advisory.

Adobe Systems is to acquire Day Software Holding, Swiss Web software maker specializing in Web Content Management, Digital Asset Management and Social Collaboration, for $240 million.

By this move, Adobe plans to use to strengthen its enterprise software offerings.

Use of Adobe Acrobat is now priced at $14.99 per month

Adobe Systems, the US software company, announced on Monday that it had moved Acrobat.com, that has about 5 million subscribers, out of public beta testing. So, the company intends to charge subscribers to use the online version of its popular PDF reader software. 

The company is to charge subscribers for two new services in a move to add capacity and capabilities for intensive business use.
