Former top executives of American International Group were charged on Thursday by the Securities and Exchange Commission for their role in accounting violations that took place at the insuring company. Ex-CEO Maurice "Hank" Greenberg and former chief financial officer Howard Smith were allegedly involved with accounting that inflated AIG's financials from 2000 through 2005 according to the SEC.
