MasterCard partners with Borderlinx to allow foreign customers shop in US and UK

MasterCard Worldwide entered into an agreement with Borderlinx, an international provider of cross border ecommerce shopping, to enable improved access to the global ecommerce marketplace for MasterCard customer financial institutions and their cardholders.

Under their partnership MasterCard and Borderlinx will allow shoppers from many markets around the world to make purchases initially at U.S. and U.K. retail websites using their MasterCard-branded cards. Cardholders will be able to leverage the Borderlinx platform, which facilitates international e-commerce by establishing a local address for foreign shoppers, applying tax, duty and delivery charges, and integrating with shipping services to ensure that they receive their goods when they want them.

The Borderlinx service will be available to MasterCard issuing banks and the standard sign-up fee for Borderlinx customers will be waived.
