As the day of the North American debut of "Iron Man 2" nears the internet is being flooded with numerous pirated copies of the film. Especially, it was seen last weekend.
In the overseas debut the film with starring actor Robert Downey Jr. generated $100 million in ticket sales. It is much likely that among those moviegoers there were individuals with hidden cameras.
On Sunday evening the Pirate Bay was abundant with pirated copies of the Paramount Pictures' film available for download. Comments by users said that the copies were recorded by people sitting in the theater who videotaped the movie off the screen using handheld cameras. Most of them were unsurprisingly with low viewing quality, but at least one copy of the movie at The Pirate Bay received kudos for being a "decent copy."
"This sort of theft is intensely disrespectful and damaging to those who pour their creativity and capital into movies and television," said a spokesman for Viacom, parent company of Paramount Pictures. "It is time responsible governments put an end to it."
"Iron Man 2" is scheduled to debut in North America on Friday.
