WebMoney units were terminated in Uzbekistan

Online payment system WebMoney reported the liquidation of the Uzbek guarantor of its ecurrency units called WMY which are equivalent to the Uzbek sum banknotes. As it is reported on the company website though TILLO-GARANT Ltd was liquidated “pretensions are accepted within 2 months since the date of the notification.” It means that now customers cannot make any transactions using WMY units, neither they can open WMY wallets.

Meantime, executive director of WebMoney Transfer Viktor Turskov gave an official comment on the situation. He says that the reason to terminate the license for the current guarantor was that its work was inefficient (too low turnovers and lack of any dynamics).

Still, Mr Turskov assured that the company will have another guarantor in Uzbekistan that will work on the bank basis. He did not elaborate on when the new guarantor will appear.

“WMY will not be discarded – that is the point! Anyone can exchange them any time at the market rate for WMZ or other WM units. WMY remains liquid further,” concluded Viktor Turskov.
