The UK has incresed its Christamas ecommerce spendings
Third annual Logan Tod Online Shopping Index shows an increase in ecommerce inflow as much as £653.2 m. 

The 2009 edition of the Index forecasts that UK adults plan to increase online purchases for Christmas 2009. The e-tailers demonstrating better availability of product (71%), effective search tools (70%) and smarter delivery options (70%) are forecasted to be spent more on. Naturally, customers were ready to wait for deliveries if the good came with a disount.

After reviewing the results, Matthew Tod, Chief Executive at Logan Tod, said, “The main challenge for online store managers during Christmas 2009 is therefore going to be maintaining average order values in the face of lower prices and greater competition.” 

Moreover, it has been revealed that 70% of UK adults showed previous good experience as a key factor in choosing the sites to visit. The index proved that those in the 45 - 54+ age group represent the best growth sector, as more than 60% of respondents of this group have indicated they were willing to spend more online this Christmas.

Matthew Tod concluded by saying that consumers ‘are going to be shopping around more than ever before.’
