Western Union Western Union has announced the purchase of Transfer Express de Panama, a money transfer and bill payments company. Owing to this acquisition WU can operate in Panama via its 15 locations throughout the country.

"This acquisition is part of our Company's strategy to optimize relationships with sub-Agents and consumers to drive solid growth. Additionally, the strategic venture will facilitate the expansion of Western Union's bill payment services to consumers in Panama," commented Liz Alicea-Velez, executive vice-president for Western Union's Latin American and Caribbean region.

Western Union has been granting its services on the territory of Panama for 17 years already; however the administration of system is sure that this acquisition will enable the company to provide a better service and to lower the prices.
