In accordance to a disclosure of Senate's public records, Western Union Co., a giant company providing with money transfer services have spent in 2007 over $160,000 to lobby the federal government. The major interest of the Western Union is to decrease the  regulatory burdens on money-services business, as well as on financial-services modernization, immigration reform and anti-money laundering issues.

Under a America federal law enacted in 1995 it is strictly required from the lobbyists to  disclose activities that might have a potential influence on members of the executive and legislative branches.

Earlier the Senate public records disclosed MasterCard International  spent $680,000 on lobbying its interests related to several Internet-related issues and the most tricky matter - merchant fees, charged while purchasing with credit card.
