Vodafone has found a good platform for its M-Pesa system

Vodafone, M-Pesa A world brand Vodafone is going to purchase a 70% stake in publicly-owned Ghana Telecom for $900 mln. in cash, which will be a good soil for M-Pesa, a mobile money transfer system of Vodafone. The acquired company Ghana Telecom is the third biggest mobile operator in the country, which possesses about 17% market share and have 1.4 million of customers.

The statistics show that every year the mobile subscribers grow at more than 55% p.a., and mobile penetration is about 35%.
"Our extensive operating experience together with our portfolio of products and services position us well to deliver a superior mobile experience to Ghanaian customers and significantly improve financial performance,"- said Arun Sarin, CEO of Vodafone. Also the company expects that their presence in Ghana will be favorable for M-Pesa and will expand its footprint system.

Today Vodafone successfully operates in Egypt, Kenya and South Africa, via its own brand, Safaricom, and Vodacom, and is not going to stop its expansion.
