Visa, Olympic Games The latest reports from Visa show that $10 million were spent on the opening day of the Games on Visa credit, debit and pre-paid cards by the visitors that came to Beijing for the Olympics.

The funds spent by the tourists on their Visa cards on August 2008 amounted 11% more than the same day last year.

Visa’s client financial institutions in China set over 90,000 ATMs and signed up some 216,000 merchant locations or outlets across the country to get ready for the prospective flood of people that would arrive for the Olympics.

More than half of all Visa card spent on 8 August 2008 fell on the customers form these five countries: USA, followed by Japan, Hong Kong SAR, South Korea and the United Kingdom.
