Worldwide recognized company VeriSign famous for providing security solutions has announced the launching of program to enable developers and enterprise IT organizations to add two-factor authentication to online applications.

Program called VeriSign Identity Protection Test Drive for Developers provides an access to VeriSign Identity Protection APIs for utilising in pilot environments. With the help of VIP Authentication service developers can enable applications for two-factor authentication, which generates a unique six-digit security code for every transaction. During an online transaction, this security code is entered into a user interface with other information, including user name and password.

"Once a test drive is completed, if an enterprise wants to formally deploy a full-scale VIP deployment, the cost would be in the range of $7-$10 per user per year," said Jeff Burstein, product manager at VeriSign.

The launch follows last week's release of the VeriSign Identity Protection Quick Start initiative to accelerate adoption of two-factor authentication.
