According to financial experts this year Christmas shopping season may turn out to be challenging for eBay and other e-commerce companies who struggle for a place in the market.

The analysts say that those customers who do not like to resort to malls when shopping will unlikely to look for online sellers irrespective of potential bargains.

At the end of August online payment processor eBillme conducted a survey that revealed about 50% of online shoppers said they were going to postpone holiday purchases for this season.

Not long ago the stakes were sufficiently high for eBay but after last week the auction announced 10,000 layoffs its stock value fell. As per the statements of eBay their market share was abused by a fierce policy of Amazon.com that continues increasing its sales staff and courting more of the small online retailers that previously partnered with eBay.

That is why analysts found this holiday season to be unfavorable for eBay. Some people fear that Amazon’s building a bigger sales base than that of eBay will be used by Amazon to offer more items customers want to purchase online.
