[img_assist|nid=8483|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=66|height=100]In view of its anniversary PayPal has conducted a study titled ‘The PayPal 10th Anniversary Survey’ by Ipsos. According to this report most of US online shoppers (80%) say that owing to the Internet their life became easier. 84% of the polled people said that they had been using the Internet for 5 years or more and 87% went shopping online at least once a month.

25% of the pollsters said that their first online experience was related to traveling. It is worth mentioning that travel goods and services are still the leaders of online sales – 82%. 64% of online customers said that they follow the recommendations of their friends with the previous experience before making some purchases. In the 1990s this figure was considerably lower, only 11%.

The study has shown that Americans as a nation are very Internet addicted. According to the statistics, 28% said that they spent at least half a day online, 44% of the responders confessed that they were e-mail addicted, 31% could not imagine their life without search engines and 3% devoted all of their spare time to social networking sites.
