e-gold slaves for the FBI. What are the fruits?

October 15, 2008 - 11:13am | author: ayny | |

Everybody knew about a new course of e-gold and its cooperation with the state agencies. However, the words were just words until the recent time. Lately we got the first proof of the successful partnership of e-gold payment system and the FBI.

DarkMarket.ws is a forum which is very popular with all kinds of ID thieves and hackers where they shared details of victims and sell the stolen data. However nobody knew that the forum was secretly run and controlled by the FBI.

The moderator of the forum known under the nickname “Master Splynter” was none other than J. Keith Mularski, a senior cybercrime agent based at the National Cyber Forensics Training Alliance in Pittsburgh, reports Wired.

By means of the forum the FBI gathered the information about its members, including their IP addresses and details of their activities on the site. As for e-gold, the processor has provided its data base to track all the transactions made via this payment system

At the moment the forum doesn’t work. Earlier “Master Splynter” has announced that he will close the forum as it attracted too much attention:

"It is apparent that this forum … is attracting too much attention from a lot of the world services (agents of FBI, SS, and Interpol). I guess it was only time before this would happen. It is very unfortunate that we have come to this situation, because ... we have established DM as the premier English speaking forum for conducting business. Such is life. When you are on top, people try to bring you down,” explained Master Splynter.
