[img_assist|nid=8260|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=88|height=100]Shoppers in India can now make purchases with new GiftMate vouchers while not disclosing credit card details to merchants and retailers.

Under the partnership of PayMate India and Sify GiftMate vouchers will be available through 3000 Sify iWays. Customers may use them at more than 3000 online and 8000 retail merchants cooperating with PayMate.

The new product represents a mobile gift voucher featured with flexibility and choices that are not the case with traditional vouchers. Customers may use them in varying denominations and on multiple visits at any of PayMate's merchant partners -- both online and offline. Different kind of products like electronics, apparels, etc., and even book flight and movie tickets may be acquired via PayMate vouchers. To crown it all, customers can send a GiftMate voucher via SMS to their family and friends.

At the moment only 10 % of online users actually transact online. Now customers reluctant to use cards online are expected to join and transact securely. That will further promote e-commerce in the country.
