[img_assist|nid=8419|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=100|height=67] Young workers participating in jobs programs of the Washington D.C. Department of Employment Services are going to receive their money on Visa payroll debit cards issued by JPMorgan.

The payroll card program was launched to provide young participants with an alternative to payroll checks, as it is explained by the agency. In addition, the program allows reducing the costs and time associated with issuing paper payroll checks. The number of youngsters to take part in the 2008 Passport-to-Work Summer Youth Program amounts to 19.000 persons.

Participants may use their money immediately after their wages were loaded onto the card. Card replenishment occurs twice a week. The program duration is ten weeks.

Young workers do not need to have checking account and may use their cards wherever Visa is accepted. To get access to the card a student should use a personal identification number.
