So, according to their data almost half of American mobile phone users (49%) are going to use mobile phones for payments in the future, while 9 million Americans are already using them.

Also it was found out that men use their phones for e-commerce more frequently than women: 4.5% (4.9 million) and 3.0% (4.3 million) correspondingly.

Today nearly 40 million people use mobile phones actively and 5 million people have entered some mobile shopping and auction websites in April and that is 73% more than it was in the same time last year, when only 2.9 million mobile users used their mobile phones to access the Internet.

"For many of the millions of consumers who are already shopping online or over landline phones, mobile commerce is an obvious and useful extension of that opportunity. As more mobile commerce services become available and consumers develop a greater trust for phone-based transactions, we expect commerce to be an increasingly important part of the mobile experience next year and beyond," said Nic Covey, director of insights at Nielsen Mobile.

A poll of Nielsen has revealed that mobile users who have not participated in m-commerce didn’t do this due to their concerns about the security of mobile-commerce. Speaking in details, 41% of the responders said security is their biggest concern, 23% said about the far of being charged for the airtime, and 21 % said that they are not sure that the transaction will be completed.
