The operating principle is as follows. A person to receive money transfer uses a card resembling an ATM card to withdraw peso transfers. For these purposes 26,000 ATM machines in Mexico are available 24/7. The recipient or the purchaser is not to be charged any unexpected fee. They do not need to have a bank account or an ATM card. Besides Poni Card includes a free call to Mexico which allows the consumer to advise the redemption number that is needed for the recipient to cash the transfer. At first, the peso denominated cards are planned to have 2000 peso face value. Other denominations will come later. Upon the activation of the card at a retail check-out the recipient may immediately withdraw 2000 pesos from an ATM in Mexico, using the number prompted by the purchaser.
