PCI compliance analysis to assist merchants

A “PCI Compliance Report Card” is planned to be published under the team-work of Practical eCommerce and nCircle, a company that offers security risk and compliance management solutions. Owing to this new card merchants striving for PCI compliance and credit card data security will be provided specific, practical, real-world assistance and advice.

Using its Certified PCI Scanning Service nCircle will implement a complimentary scan of a merchant’s site. After this the results of the scan and a merchant’s responses on a PCI self-assessment questionnaire will be assessed and a scorecard along with accompanying article will be handed over to Practical eCommerce.

The criteria underlying the assessment on PCI compliance are “Understanding of Requirements,” “Vulnerability Profile,” “Application Profile,” “Only Necessary Services” and “Overall Compliance.”

Scanning a merchant’s site Practical eCommerce and nCircle will not identify the company or URL of the site being graded but it is the vendors the merchant uses such as shopping cart, platform and payment gateway who will be identified.
