As per reports from the electronic payment services provider, VeriFone, within the following two years Canada Post will implement more than 7,000 VeriFone MX870 multimedia payment systems.

The MX870 will be deployed by Canada Post as a customer display system to accept debit and credit card payments supporting signature capture for payment and other types of personal receipts.

This year Canada Post is planning to launch about 2,200 systems and during 2009 it will install the rest of them.

A fully integrated service for Canada Post was developed and certified under the partnership of VeriFone with Innovapost, a provider of IT services and transaction services processor TD Merchant Services. During the second phase of the installation all MX870 systems are to be equipped with Interac Chip debit and EMV, the standard developed by Europay, MasterCard, and Visa for chip-based debit and credit cards.
