m-banking Mobile phones can now be used to pay for parking at Test Valley, England. On Monday a new option was introduced for motorists to allow them to make payments for their parking over the phone using a credit or debit card.

Under the team-work of Test Valley Borough Council and RingGo the service will be delivered in car parks both in Andover and Romsey, for a small charge of 20p for each transaction. Registration of users may be handled online or on the day of parking.

Drivers are not issued with any tickets as all parking attendants were equipped with handheld devices allowing them to check proof of payment.

Besides, drivers can receive text alerts upon the expiration of their parking time and will then have the option to top-up their time via their mobile.

The introduction of the mew payment method doesn’t imply that it will be the only option available as motorists will still be able to pay for their parking with coins.
