security, House of loards Online security related to the sensible information concerns the UK House of Lords. The members are calling for improvements to the way personal data is protected on the web.
The government was inculpated by the Select Committee for "a level of indifference dispelled only as a result of recent incidents involving serious losses of personal data".

New report on personal security on the web following the one published last August was released by the Committee which is determined to establish proper legislation to impose on banks responsibility of refunding victims defrauded online.

Earlier this year the code was amended so as to relieve the banks of the responsibility for online fraud in case the victim is not using up-to-date security software. As for the Committee it requires banks to be "more proactive about improving the security of their online banking operations".

As per the suggestion made by Lord Sutherland of Houndwood, Chairman of the Lords Science and Technology Committee it is the police who should investigate the cases of online fraud and victims of such kind of crime should be able to appeal to police instead of reporting to the bank or card issuer as is currently the case.
