[img_assist|nid=7368|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=66|height=100]In the Czech Republic church people are now enabled to make contributions online. The project was launched by the Prague Archbishopric.

The system to donate via Internet is stated to be secure and eligible. However it is not going to completely replace the usual way of donating money.

"It should definitely not replace the collecting of alms into moneyboxes. These contributions are to cover the activities of particular parishes," says Kristina Polackova, Project author. "As Internet payment has been steeply rising, our step is logical," she added.

Donors are also able to chose  the type of programs they wish to sponsor. Among such programs there are church schools, education of future priests, cultural heritage and community centers etc.

Ceska sporitelna savings bank that won the tender is to process the payment system.

"Donors will be informed how their money has been used at the latest in the annual report where all financial contributions will be released along with the list of the projects on which they were spent," Polackova told.
