September 29, 2008 - 4:44pm | author: ayny | |

Moneygram, one of the leading money transfer companies in the world has announced the decrease in fees for money transfers on the Kenyan market. Such decision has been taken due to economical situation in Kenya

Now all the transactions less than Sh4,000 will be charged only Sh300 that is Sh180 less than it was charged before.

“Our intention at MoneyGram is to try and make it easy and more affordable for our customers to send and receive money within Kenya, in view of the rising cost of living. MoneyGram’s low money transfer fee provides more choices for our clients to manage their financial needs in the most convenient and affordable manner,” said Nikki Spottiswoode, MoneyGram Regional Director.

It is necessary to add that Moneygram is not the only company which reduced its prices. So last year Western Union has revised its charges and takes only Sh500 for the transactions under Sh7,500

M-pesa service designed for the users who prefer sending money via mobile phones and charges Sh30 for the transaction under Sh30,000.

The domestic money transfer company Postapay owned by government has considerably lower fees and charges Sh150 to a local transaction amounted between Sh2,500 and Sh5,000.
