PayMate, a Mumbai based wireless transactions platform provider, has expanded its GiftMate mobile voucher service to "non-resident Indians in North America who can now send GiftMate mobile gift vouchers to their friends and family, anywhere in India." ''The emerging gift card market in India is forecasted to see explosive growth and PayMate with its GiftMate product is well positioned for growth. The NRI market is a key piece of our growth strategy for GiftMate,'' said Mr. Ajay Adiseshann, Founder and CEO of PayMate.

GiftMate is a gift voucher that can be sent via cell phone to an Indian resident. Until now the service was only available within the country. Now any friend or family member can send a gift that can be redeemed at over 3000 online merchants who accept PayMate for such purchases as movie tickets, flights, books, CDs, clothes and etc. When the gift voucher is sent, it is stored on your phone. Along with the text message about the voucher and the amount sent, the lucky person receives a 4 digit PIN and the instructions on how to use it.

GiftMate has already proved to be a successful innovation in gift giving. "Some of the best gifts are the ones that are impulsive and come from the heart. With the launch of www.mygiftmate.com, the NRI Community in North America can shower their loved ones in India with these heartfelt gestures. GiftMate vouchers are instant, convenient, flexible, and secure,'' said Dhruv Singh, Vice President of Americas at PayMate.
