Paybox and Globe Telecom, pioneer mobile operator in the Philippines have joined their efforts for enlarging the range of their remittance network solutions. For the present the main task of the partnership is extending and optimizing paybox mobile Commerce Portfolio and also fixing and intensifying Globe Telecom's leading remittance service GCASH.
Both companies teamed up strategically to offer Overseas Filipinos all over the world more convenient and cheaper way to send money home. In 2007 the total sum of all remittances sent to the Philippines reached more than US$ 14billion that is 14% of the Philippines GDP.
Paybox via its portfolio of products introduced mobile Commerce, mobile Payment services with mobile operators and financial service providers in countries both of developed and emerging markets. Applying mobile commerce and mobile money opportunities in developed markets, the transfer becomes faster and costs less which provides convenience and security to foreign workers.
And in emerging markets such as Philippines remittance motivated the creation of GCASH. From the 20th to the 22nd of May paybox will be put into public use in Australia and from the 17th to the 20th of June - at the CommunicAsia in Singapore.
