Italian m-banking becomes more reliable

[img_assist|nid=8047|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=80|height=100]A well-known provider of digital security solutions Gemalto has announced about its contract with PosteMobile, the first Mobile Virtual Network Operator in Italy, under which Gemalto has provided Italian operator with its software, owing to which the customers of BancoPosta are enabled to conduct secure payment transactions. Both PosteMobile and BancoPosta are belonging to the Poste Italiane Group.

Being launched in November 2007 PosteMobile has immediately started deploying mobile-banking services to its customers. The project was very successful. According to the figures 200,000 of 250,000 customers of PosteMobile are using those services.

Today, we are placing our trust in their service management solution again, to bring increased simplicity and convenience to our subscribers. Our goal is to transform the mobile phone into a real e-wallet, easy to use, anytime, anywhere,” said Roberto Giacchi, CEO for PosteMobile.

With this solution, we are effectively putting secure digital credentials into the hands of PosteMobile subscribers that will give them the freedom to pay quickly and safely,” commented Philippe Vallée, Executive Vice President, Telecommunications Business Unit at Gemalto.
