[img_assist|nid=9692|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=100|height=67] The latest reports show that small and medium businesses in Australia are planning to spend over $1.8 billion for upgrading their Internet-related technologies which is 5% higher above the previous year. The study held by York-based Access Markets International (AMI) Partners, Inc. suggests that by 2009 SMBs are expected to spend US$1.9 billion on Internet-enabling technologies.

Website usage with Australian medium businesses (with 100 – 999 employees) is about to reach saturation level as these companies become more aware of the advantages available with possessing and maintaining websites while penetration level with small businesses is much lower. Most SMBs prefer to host their websites on ISPs or other providers’ web servers, rather than on in-house company servers.

Australian SMBs are widely adopting e-commerce solutions as a way to make business transactions easier and simpler. Experts forecast that e-commerce will be used by almost 50% of Australian website-owning SMBs by end of next year. Yearly sales revenue from e-commerce activity is expected to increase as typical SMBs expect their average annual e-commerce revenues to rise by more than 16% next year.
