
In Indonesia customers paying land and building taxes are being offered Internet payments system promoted under the MOU signed by the directorate general of taxation and Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI).
"With the MoU, we expect to raise the number of people paying land and building tax online to 1.5 million this year," said director general of taxation Darmin Nasution.
As per figures cited by Darmin over the period of January-February the number of customers who paid their land and building tax with e-payment system amounted to 737,000. The total number of land and building tax payers in Indonesia makes up 55 million.
Tax payments made online are expected to achieve 10% which corresponds to Rp 2.4 trillion ($261 million).
