[img_assist|nid=7402|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=82|height=100]According to the statements of Deutsche Bank Research analysts more and more Europeans are getting access to online banking services. The number of customers banking over the Internet increased from 19 percent in 2003 to 29 percent in 2007. In case of such succession of events to be continued average adoption rate is expected to correspond to 50-60 percent by 2020. By the way Sweden and Denmark has already achieved that level.

Interestingly the adoption rates increase from south to north and poor to rich. While 70 percent of people in Iceland are banking online only 2 percent are doing the same in Bulgaria.

The group of users banking through the Internet is represented by mostly young, male and well-educated individuals therewith 43 percent of German online bankers have an advanced education whereas the rate is only 35% among the general public.

Thus analysts expect increase in the number of online banking users due to the heightening of education level and the gap in it is to be closed by 2010. Besides there is place for diversifying the auditorium per age and gender categories. Hence broader customer base should result in more services to be distributed over the internet (e.g. to wealthy silver surfers) and larger spectrum of customer demands.
