[img_assist|nid=9813|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=67|height=100]In order to provide payment facilities for government and commercial services in the Sultanate of Oman a new ePayment Gateway (ePG) service was recently introduced in the country.

The launch of the service was announced last week by the Information Technology Authority (ITA) of Oman. With the new initiative government departments and other parties will be allowed to charge for, and receive payment for online services.

Currently the service which is sponsored by MasterCard, Oman Mobile, Bank Muscat and Oman Arab Bank accepts payments from Visa, MasterCard, Amex and Diner cards. In the future the service is planned to be extended to integrated contact centers and other forms of customer service.

The payment gateway was properly projected to meet international security and process standards and to be Payment Card Industry standard (PCI) compliant.
