Internet subscribers using an iPhone are immediately detected by the bank’s website due to "device recognition layer". The recognition layer and the new website have been developed by ANZ team within the last several months.

"We're always looking at increasing the choices available to our customers. When new technologies come on board we harness them," said a spokesperson for the bank. "Going by market reaction, it's going to have a positive take up."

In the beginning only the Contact us and Locate us functions will be available to with the tailored version of the bank’s website. Customers will also be able to shift to the normal website.

The service expansion is expected to take place within a few months. Then users will be enabled to see their transaction history, transfer money between accounts, and make use of the Pay anyone feature.

However all these functions are already available today for iPhone users from the normal ANZ site.
