[img_assist|nid=7024|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=100|height=77]People in the USA now have a possibility to deposit checks with small amounts with banks online.

It is very inconvenient for the customers to go to the nearest bank branch in order to lodge 10 or 15 dollars because it takes time and more money for the fare if necessary to go by transport.

Using the scanner the customer submits the check via the network to the bank and some time later he gets rid of the check.

USAA Federal Savings Bank was the first to offer remote deposit services to the users and introduced Home@Deposit system.

Many customers are very displeased with the necessity to physically visit the bank and waste time in long queues just to deposit a 10 dollar check.

Several financial agencies are considering the question of offering such kind of services to the consumers. EasCorp headquartered in Massachusetts is already selling remote deposit services under the name DeposZip and states that seven credit institutions in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Indiana and Oklahoma offer it. Another nine are just making preparations to do the same.

However some banks are less enthusiastic about the idea. They find depositing the check in that way troublesome and expensive as banks usually make business customers to pay fees per month and per check for remote deposit and besides compatible scanners can cost at least $300.

In this respect it should be noticed that USAA and EasCorp are operating with many models of scanners including cheap ones and they don't charge their customers for the program.
