Still as per the research conducted by Unisys 71% of all mobile phone carriers polled in 14 countries will not resort to using a mobile device to bank or shop online.
According to the study held along with issuing the latest revision of the Unisys Security Index 59% of all the polled do not trust their mobile devices to provide a secure transaction. And just 9% at present time are using cellphones to make transactions like credit-card payments, money transfers and deposits.
13,296 consumers worldwide took part in the survey conducted on their mobile-device habits and how secure they feel when conducting online transactions. Final data show that the majority of customers are very concerned about the security of mobile devices and their ability to protect pertinent information relayed in a financial transaction.
Grouping consumers which are loath to bank or shop online via their mobile devices, we have the following figures: 86% in France, 79% in the UK, 78% in Australia, 77% both in Belgium and Italy, 71% in the USA.
21% is the peak portion of people using a mobile phone or personal organizer to conduct financial transactions and this figure falls on Germany while the lowest percentage of consumers using mobile devices to bank or shop with only 1 percent belongs to the UK respondents.
The results indicate a half of all customers surveyed in each country or region with the exception of New Zealand (45 percent) and Malaysia (49 percent) adhere to an opinion that their mobile devices are insecure in providing online transactions. Moreover an overwhelming number of those polled express their trust in banks to provide adequate security for mobile transactions but not in telecom providers or online retailers.
